BUT WHAT IF WE COULD TRANSFORM THE UNCOMFORTABLE INTO SOMETHING NOURISHING AND PRODUCTIVE? SOAP, PISS AND WASTE BECOME CARE.

Piss Soap ist eine von der Norm abweichende und regenerative Seife, die vollständig aus Abfällen menschlicher Aktivitäten hergestellt wird. Piss Soap hat einen positiven Einfluss auf unsere städtischen Räume und unser Leben. Die Rohstoffe (gebrauchtes Speiseöl, Holzasche und menschlicher Urin) finden sich in Imbissbuden, öffentlichen Räumen und Toiletten und werden normalerweise entsorgt. Piss Soap schlägt eine neue Kreislauf-Ökologie vor, bei der sowohl die öffentlichen Einrichtungen als auch die Einwohner:innen von ihren eigenen Abfällen profitieren und gleichzeitig unsere Straßen sauber halten können. Im Moment scheint Nachhaltigkeit ein gelingender Ansatz zu sein, um der Umweltbelastung entgegenzuwirken. Daher müssen wir regenerative Prozesse schaffen, die direkt positive Einflüsse auf diese Entwicklung haben. Piss Soap hat einen starken ökologischen Mehrwert, da sie Abfall verbraucht und in ein Produkt umwandelt, das sich nach seiner Verwendung auflöst. Piss Soap ist regenerativ und kann leicht lokal produziert werden, da ihre Herstellung sehr wenig Energie nur einfache Haushaltsgeräte braucht.

Piss Soap is a deviant and regenerative soap entirely made out of human activity wastes. Piss Soap has a positive impact on our urban spaces and life. The raw materials (used cooking oil, wood ashes and human urine) are found in snack bars, public spaces, toilets, and are usually discarded. Piss Soap proposes a new circular ecology where both the public services and inhabitants can benefit from their own waste, while keeping our streets cleaned. Right now, sustainability seems to be a light approach to counteract the environmental deterioration. As a result, we need to create regenerative processes that directly impact positively this tendency. Piss Soap have a strong ecological added value as it consumes and transforms waste into a product that will dissolve after its use. Piss Soap is regenerative and can be easily implemented locally as its production requires very little energy and domestic appliances.

PRACTICE ECODEVIANCE AS AN ANTICAPITALISTIC SELF CARE RITUAL

Vom ersten Tag an, als ich im Gleis 21 ankam, wurde ich von einem Gefühl der Gemeinschaft und Verwandtschaft empfangen. Alle waren immer neugierig und interessiert daran, wer ich war und was ich hier zu tun hatte. Das gab mir das Gefühl von Vertrautheit und ermöglichte es mir, im Laufe eines Monats ein Netzwerk von Freunden, Gleichaltrigen und einer Familiarität aufzubauen. Der Ort, an dem ich untergebracht war, und das Gefühl der Neuartigkeit der Stadt machten die ganze Atmosph.re wirklich extrem spannend. Während des einmonatigen Aufenthaltes hatte ich die Möglichkeit, mich zu entfalten und in die Arbeit und die Gemeinschaft des Hauses einzutauchen.

From the first day I arrived at Gleis 21, I was welcomed by a sense of community and kinship. Everyone was always curious and interested in who I was and what I was here to do. This gave me a sense of familiarity and allowed me to build a network of friends, peers and a chosen family over the course of a month. The place where I was staying and the sense of newness of the city really made the whole atmosphere extremely exciting. During the month-long stay, I had the opportunity to develop and immerse myself in the work and community of the house.

Ich habe eine wunderbare Zeit damit verbracht, Wien und all die Schönheiten, die die Stadt zu bieten hat, zu entdecken. Ebenso faszinierend war die Möglichkeit, mein Projekt „Piss Soap“ in enger Verbindung mit den Einwohnern zu entwickeln. Während der Workshops habe ich so viele verschiedene Teilnehmer:innen kennengelernt, mit ihnen geplaudert und mich mit ihnen ausgetauscht, dass mich diese Erfahrung sowohl beruflich als auch persönlich sehr bereichert hat.

I spent an amazing moment discovering Vienna and all the beauties that the city has to offer. Equally mesmerizing was the possibility to develop my project of Piss Soap in deep connection with the inhabitants. Through all the workshop sessions, I got to discover, chat, and share with so many various participants that this experience really enriched me both professionally and personally.

Der beste Aspekt des Aufenthalts bei Gleis 21 im Rahmen des Projekts „Piss Soap“ war das Engagement der Gemeinschaft. Jeder hat mitgeholfen, Abfall und Material zu sammeln. Die Neugierde, Seife aus Pisse herzustellen, verbreitete sich in der Community, und ich war positiv überrascht, wie viele Menschen sich an der Erfahrung beteiligten. Ich bin sehr dankbar dafür, dass ich eine neue Erfahrung mit der Weitergabe von Wissen machen konnte und auch das Vertrauen in die Relevanz des Piss- Seifen-Projekts im Allgemeinen stärken konnte. Ich habe im Laufe des Monats viel dazugelernt und Lebenserfahrungen gesammelt, die mir wirklich geholfen haben, als Person zu wachsen.

The best aspect of staying at Gleis 21 with the project of Piss Soap was the dedication the community showed for it. Everybody helped gather waste and collect material. The curiosity of making soap out of piss spread through the community and I was happily surprised by the amount of people that participated in the experience. I am really grateful as it gave me a new experience in facilitating sharing knowledge and also building confidence in the relevance of the Piss Soap project in general. I took a lot of great lessons and life experience throughout the month and it truly helped me grow as a person.
